I was at the ARENA di VERONA to listen 2 Performances of DON GIOVANNI (June & July 2012) and I have to say I appreciated very much both Ildebrando D'Arcangelo and Erwin Schrott as Don Giovanni and also Carmen Giannattasio as Elvira . The french mezzo Géraldine Chauvet is gorgeous : I've already listened Mlle Chauvet in ARENA as CARMEN , in 2009 , conducted by Placido DOMINGO : a great Performer , she's born to be CARMEN ! I also liked very much Marco VINCO as Masetto , really funny and with an italian , beautyfull Voice . In my opinion Franco ZEFFIRELLI is "The ONE" : his DON GIOVANNI is GREAT ! Thanks to ARENA di VERONA for this terrific Production ! Let's hope to enjoy this Production in the next year !! Thomas .
